Pick your date: the sunset, the golden hour, the blue hour and your hour at Positano, in local time.
Times are Positano local time (Europe/Rome), worked out from the sun’s position for this place (the NOAA method), good to about a minute on a flat horizon. Golden hour is the last hour before sunset; blue hour runs from sunset to the end of civil twilight.

Positano at blue hour: the town tumbling down to its tiled dome, and the moon laying silver on the sea below the road.
In the reel: A couple seen from behind rides a Vespa down a winding coastal road past bougainvillea-draped houses, with Positano's tiled dome and the moonlit sea in view, at night.
The view is real. It comes from Positano's one road loop: the postcard look down to the dome of Santa Maria Assunta is on Via Cristoforo Colombo near the Sponda bus stop, and the other leg, Viale Pasitea, has its own view of the town. The loop is one-way, in from the Sorrento side at Chiesa Nuova, down Viale Pasitea to Piazza dei Mulini and up Via Cristoforo Colombo to Sponda, so the riding clip is the downhill leg. The sun sets behind the mountains here, so the night version in the drawing is the honest one.
May to September. Full-moon weekends in 2027: 21–23 May, 18–20 June (the best pick) and 17–19 September. The cliffside hotels close for winter and reopen in spring, so book the June weekend early.
The hour: Blue hour. On 18 June 2027 the sun sets at 20:35 and blue hour runs 20:35–21:08 (our own calculation); the full moon rises in the south-east about the time the sun sets, over the water from the high road (our own calculation).
Avoid: Waiting for a sunset over the sea, which doesn't happen here. Stopping in the lane to film. Riding in from Sorrento without checking Meta's scooter ordinance.
The 15th of each month, local time.
