Pick your date: the sunset, the golden hour, the blue hour and your hour at Paris, the Seine quays, in local time.
Times are Paris local time (Europe/Paris), worked out from the sun’s position for this place (the NOAA method), good to about a minute on a flat horizon. Golden hour is the last hour before sunset; blue hour runs from sunset to the end of civil twilight.

On the lower quays of the Seine, the tower sparkles for five minutes on the hour, and you learn how short five minutes is.
In the reel: A couple dances on a cobbled Seine quay beside a glowing lamppost at night, with a stone arched bridge, Haussmann buildings and the sparkling Eiffel Tower beyond.
No single spot holds every element, so the frame splits across two real places: the left-bank lower quay at Pont Alexandre III, looking west past the arches of Pont des Invalides to the tower, and the cobbled tip of Square du Vert-Galant below Pont Neuf. Both are free, walkable stretches of the car-free Parc Rives de Seine, and you can stand right in them.
October to December, the weekend nearest a new moon; in 2026, October 10 is a Saturday new moon and the trees still have leaves.
The hour: The first full sparkle after blue hour. On 10 Oct 2026 the sun sets at 19:11 and blue hour ends at 19:42 (our own calculation), so the 20:00 sparkle is the first in full dark. The tower sparkles for five minutes on the hour; the gold lights go off at 23:45, so 23:00 is the last full sparkle.
Avoid: June, when it barely gets dark before the last sparkle: on 21 June the sun sets at 21:58 and blue hour runs to 22:40 (our own calculation), which leaves you the 23:00 sparkle and nothing else.
The 15th of each month, local time.
