Pick your date: the sunset, the golden hour, the blue hour and your hour at Mumbai, Marine Drive, in local time.
Times are Mumbai local time (Asia/Kolkata), worked out from the sun’s position for this place (the NOAA method), good to about a minute on a flat horizon. Golden hour is the last hour before sunset; blue hour runs from sunset to the end of civil twilight.

Under one umbrella in monsoon rain, the Queen's Necklace curves gold across the bay and doubles itself in every puddle.
In the reel: A couple seen from behind shares a black umbrella, she holding a roasted corn cob, walking the wet seafront promenade beside tetrapods and the curving necklace of lights, a red-domed palace and highrises in view, on a rainy monsoon night.
The drawing joins two real places about 2 km apart: the tetrapods and the curve of amber lights are Marine Drive, the Queen's Necklace, and the red dome is a hotel at Apollo Bunder in Colaba. You can walk both freely, but not in one frame, so shoot each half where it really stands. Stay at the south tip of the curve, at Nariman Point, for the whole necklace from your window.
June to September for the monsoon rain in the frame. October is the dry backup with a washed sky, but no puddles.
The hour: Blue hour with the lamps on: 19:30–20:15 in July (sunset 19:20 on 5 July) and 19:00–19:45 in mid-September (sunset 18:41), at the promenade (our own calculation).
Avoid: BMC high-tide days above 4.5 m, 24 of them in the 2026 monsoon, highest 4.89 m on 16 July. People are swept off Marine Drive every year, so stay behind the barriers and never climb the tetrapods.
The 15th of each month, local time.
